Proprietors Fred & Sally Schweiger have owned this land since the early 1960s. It’s not uncommon for visitors to meet them, along with their son, Andy, our winemaker.

Our style of winemaking comes from Fred’s passionate artisan vineyard methods, concentrated quality wine production and unique winemaking style reflective of our terroir. Due to meticulous viticulture practices, the dark red wines produced from our mountain fruit have intense flavors.

We are located in the Spring Mountain District Appellation on land with a distinctive micro-climate; we do not get the thick layer of fog in the mornings as the valley floor vineyards do. This helps our fruit ripen with more sunlight. The complexity of flavors in our wines are attributed in part by the four types of volcanic soil on our property. We dry-farm our vines, which allows our grapevine roots to grow 25 feet deep, where the vines have access to water and the nutrients they need to produce quality grapes.

Our Wines

Our Vineyards

Schweiger Vineyards has 35 planted acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Malbec, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Grapes grown at the top of the slopes surrounding the Napa Valley present unique challenges; for instance, terraces too steep for a tractor. However, those same steep terraces also provide the drainage to produce smaller berries with thicker grape skins to produce the highest quality wines.

Our Team

Fred & Sally Schweiger

Founding Owners

Fred and Sally met at Lowell High School in San Francisco. From quality custom construction to premium grape growing to running a family winery, they have always worked best as a team, taking pride in all their endeavors! Sally is probably the biggest fan of our Sauvignon Blanc, while Fred is partial to our 100% Cabernet Sauvignon's Gate Block and Montaire.

Andy Schweiger

The son of Fred and Sally, Andy grew up in the vineyard working with family clearing and planting, and at the age of 16 began working as a cellar rat for other local wineries. He has worked for several wineries in Napa and Sonoma County, and since year one has been Winemaker for Schweiger Vineyards. On the rare occasion he has free time, Andy enjoys playing saxophone, cheering for the San Jose Sharks, and anything Disney!

Paula Schweiger

Administrative Assistant

Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, Paula met Andy in high school while they were exchange students in Spain. After 30 years of teaching, Paula started her ``encore career`` with us in 2022. She's an avid walker, and loves reading, spending time with their two children, and traveling. Her goal is to one day visit all of the National Parks, although Yosemite will always be a favorite.
