The Ultimate Pairing of Wine and Wanderlust

Travel is something we’re very passionate about at Schweiger Vineyards. Fred, Sally, Andy, and Paula love exploring new places “” Andy and Paula actually met as exchange students in Spain back in 1987. We’ve found that one of the best ways we can learn about other cultures and connect with people is with wine. Many years ago we started planning and hosting wine tours all over the world for club members, loyal customers, and brand new faces who were up for an adventure. These trips are always a highlight of the year, but the ones we’re taking soon are especially refreshing and highly anticipated. We’re sharing some photos from Fred and Sally’s “Wine in the Woods Getaway” this past May, and filling you in on the rest of our upcoming programs. If you need a sweet escape from reality, want to make great new friends, and drink wine in some of the world’s most interesting places, then consider this your invitation. Browse our travel plans below and let’s get you booked for a Schweiger Vineyards vacay!

Wine in the Woods Getaway 2021, Yosemite National Park

In May of this year, Fred and Sally took a great group to Yosemite National Park where we spent five nights at the Tenaya Lodge. The springtime weather was better than we could have imagined. The mountains were green, the sky was clear, and the melted waterfalls were flowing for us to enjoy. We saw Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome and on Day 2, visited Mariposa Grove to walk among the world’s tallest trees. Guests were welcome to go off on their own adventures for tours, biking, fly-fishing, stargazing, watching wildlife, or, as you see Fred demonstrating below, ax-throwing!

Our family’s wine was a beautiful detail we were able to share with our guests and add to our time in the great outdoors. We hosted a full private tasting and two paired dinners; one in the deluxe Tenaya Lodge and the other, our special “Wine in the Woods” farewell dinner, held outside beneath the forest canopy. This trip was truly a breath of fresh air after a cold winter and a long year inside. Fred and Sally were so happy to meet new faces, feel the healthy buzz of traveling, and make memories in nature over Schweiger wine.

Upcoming! Big Easy Extravaganza, New Orleans

Next on our world tour (and with a few spots still available if you want to join!) is five nights in New Orleans, Louisiana. We probably don’t have to tell you how rich in culture NOLA is, but the itinerary we have planned for our trip covers all the bases, so you can actually see, hear, and taste what New Orleans is all about. We’ll be staying in the French Quarter at the charming Hotel Monteleone and having cocktails and dinner together our first night in. Here are just a few of the experiences we have planned””

  • An airboat tour and seafood boil in the swamps of the Cajun countryside.
  • Guided walking tour of the French Quarter’s Cathedrals, jazz music, markets, and cafes.
  • Supper at the Acme Oyster House followed by a wine tasting of current releases with Winemaker Andy Schweiger.
  • Haute Creole dinner at the Commander’s Palace paired with Schweiger wines.
  • A day of exploring the 250-year-old, 38-acre, historically significant Houmas House property.

We’ve wanted to visit the Bayou for a long time now, and Andy is thrilled to be attending in November””he’s going to need a serious vacay after harvest! A lover of jazz himself, Andy will be making some “off-the-itinerary forays into Frenchmen Street to enjoy the live music scene, for those who are interested in joining.” We would be thrilled if you came along with us to New Orleans this fall. Read the full breakdown and secure your spot on this fabulous trip, and email our agent Georgia Shoemaker for any questions you may have. We hope to see you in the Crescent City!
