Family Winemaking

Schweiger Vineyards is proud to remain independent and family owned. We are one of the distinguished multi-generation wineries with a father/son grower/winemaker team who have been working together for over 20 years. Our winery is located 2,000 feet above the Napa Valley, a 15-minute drive from downtown St. Helena. Spring Mountain Road wineries require appointments, so whether you are visiting or a local, let us help you plan ahead.

Our Story

Schweiger Vineyards is the product of father/son wine-making team Fred & Andy Schweiger and their outstanding team of dedicated professionals. Our Proprietors, Fred & Sally Schweiger, have lived and worked on this land since the 1960s; it’s not uncommon for visitors to be welcomed by both in our tasting room. Our style of wine making comes from Fred’s passionate artisan vineyard methods, concentrated quality wine production and unique wine-making style reflective of our terroir. Due to meticulous viticulture practices, the dark red wines produced from our mountain fruit impart intense flavors. We are proud to confirm the ageability of our wines — to 20 years; less than 2% of the world’s wine has the robust tannins to do so. We are located in the Spring Mountain District Appellation.

Cabernet Sauv
2014

Cabernet Sauvignon

Estate grown on the eastern slopes of Spring Mountain overlooking the Napa Valley, the 2014 vintage of our Cabernet Sauvignon has a distinct elegance. The texture is a delicate balance of youthful grit and a velvety mouthfeel. The red plum, cedar, oak, and licorice linger on the palate, harmoniously integrated for 32 months in the finest French oak barrels. Our Cabernets are age-worthy but can also be enjoyed young.

2017

Chardonnay

Our Chardonnay has hints of pear, citrus, lychee and stone fruit, along with delicate undertones of oak and tropical fruits. Its rich elegance is a result of sur lies aging and stirring once per week in the barrel during its young maturation stage. It’s a lovely meld of crisp fruit, a creamy mouthfeel, and Old-World minerality.

Dedication
2013

Dedication®

Our 2013 Dedication® marks the tenth release of our bordelaise project. This wine is a complex and fruity blend incorporating the four most common varietals used in this style of wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec.  Blending such a wine is one of the most fun and rewarding parts of our winemaker’s job. On the nose, the 2013 Dedication® offers rich blackberry, currant, plum, and loads of jammy cherry with faint seasonings of dark chocolate, truffle oil, oak, coriander, and minerals. A velvety core of lush red fruit emerges from the ripeness of our small-berried hillside fruit. This generously proportioned wine expands as it moves through the palate with a seemingly endless finish.

2017

Napuro®

In the summer of 2015, one of Schweiger Vineyards’ cork suppliers took our winemaker, Andy Schweiger, on a trip to Portugal, where he discovered the magic of White Port. This resulted in an experiment in the 2016 harvest, which was a resounding success. About halfway through harvest, he combined fermenting Chardonnay juice with brandy. What resulted was an amazing dessert wine. The 2017 vintage has a wonderful perfume, with highlights of baked pear, meringue, honeysuckle, peach blossom and rose water, with a slightly sweet almondine flavor. Enjoy with your favorite pear tart, dried figs, blue cheese, or other magical creations.
