In the summer of 2015, one of the Schweiger Vineyards cork suppliers took our winemaker, Andy, on a trip to Portugal. During this trip, he discovered the magic of White Port, which resulted in an experiment in the 2016 harvest and proved a resounding success. About halfway through harvest, he combined fermenting Chardonnay juice with brandy, resulting in an amazing dessert wine. The 2017 vintage has a wonderful aroma, with highlights of baked pear, meringue, honeysuckle, peach blossom and rose water with a slightly sweet almondine flavor. Napuro® is inspired by the rare white ports from the Duoro region. Our winemaker, Andy, carefully blends our Chardonnay with an eau de vie brandy in the middle of fermentation to capture the subtle fermentation aromas at their peak. The 2017 vintage has wonderful notes of baked pear, meringue, honeysuckle, peach blossom and rose water with a slightly sweet almondine flavor.
